The bass fishing is hot right now in the Cricket Creek and Long Creek arms
of the lake. The bass are moving up shallow to spawn as the water temps. are
getting in the upper 60's to low 70's. I have been catching most of my fish
on a green craw colored wiggle wart in 4-6ft. of water.
On windy days, the
best bet is a double willow leaf spinnerbait in the same areas. Target the
steeper banks with cover such as laydowns next to spawning coves. In the
dam area of Table Rock several bass are on the beds right now back in the
spawning
coves. I have seen several bass in the 5lb and up range already on the beds.
Now is an excellent time to try your luck because the water is clear enough
to see down to 8-10ft.
The crappie fishing is awsome as well right now. They are moving up in large
numbers to spawn in Cricket and Long Creek. You can catch numbers of males
up shallow in 2-6ft. of water using a swimming minnow or live minnows, but
for the bigger females, pull out off the bank and fish any structure like
standing timber or brush piles with the same baits
