Truman Lake Fishing
Reports
Truman Lake: 02/23/06:
Crappie: We went crappie fishing
on Feb 15th and had 30 crappie by 10 o'clock. We fished the bluffs and had
several multiple trees. The crappie we brought
to the marina were good fish. The average length was 11 inches with several
13 inch fish. The bait of choice was pink/white tubes with a 1/16th oz jig
head.
All fish were in 17 to 25ft of water, some we caught on the
fall but most were 16 to 18 ft deep. The key to catching fish in the winter
is to
fish slow and fish every limb on the tree. In most trees there will be
a sweet spot, once you find it you can catch multiple fish. There is nothing
more fun than a winter crappie fishing trip it can be as good as the
rest of the year.
No report on any other species. The lake is in as good a shape as I have
ever seen, if you have a nice day to go it is worth the trip.Plus you get
to see all the Eagles that are around beautiful!!!
