Truman Lake Fishing
Reports
Truman Lake: 06/14/06
Fishing Report from Sterett Creek Marina 6/14/06
Lake Level: 707.58
Water Temp: 77deg.
Water Clarity: Clear to light stain.
This has been the start of a perfect week. The weather has been fantastic with
cool mornings and evenings and not to much wind. Even the day time temps. have
been good. The fishing remains about the same as last week with everything moving
to the summer pattern. Even the whites are starting to surface so with the warmer
temps forecasted for the weekend things should really pick up.
BASS: Last nights Hawg Fights took 13.87lbs. to winso you could say the bass
fishing is good. Points seem to be holding fish in 8' to 10' of water. Main lake
timbered seem to be the best with secondary not to far behind. Most fish are
holding on the breaks clone to deeper water. Big worms and the sweet beaver in
watermelon red or green pumpkin red seem to be the best colors. One tip I found
is that they want a slow moving bait. There are a few fish starting to pull up
on brush piles in 15' to 20' of water. Beavers are working on them. Winners last
night were Ernie Cox and Russell Beck. 2nd. went to Larry Hahn and his grand
daughter Christian ( who didn't pay her 1/2 of the entry fee)
with 8.67lbs and they also had big bass weighing 3.96lbs. Third was Tom Monsees
and Lance Estus with 5.16lbs.
CRAPPIE: The crappie bite is still a little slow. Most of the fish we are seeing
are off the ends of the flats in the tree rows setting in 17' to 20' of water.
Minnows fished 8' to 10' down has been the best bait..
WHITES & HYBRIDS: We are starting to see the whites surface. The COE. hasn't
been running much water lately so the bite on the humps has slowed a little.
The area from the dam to KK Island has had the most surface activity the last
few days. Small spoons skipped on the surface or Rooster tails in white and Road
runners in red and white have been the best baits. If you see the fish surfacing
stay back as far as you can because they are spooking easily.
CATFISH: The catfishing is good here on Truman. Trot lines set in 4' of water
with 1' stages baited with leeches are the best thing going right now. Set lines
close to a creek channel or ditch.
