Truman Lake Fishing
Reports
Truman Lake: 06/28/06
Lake Level: 706.68
Water Temp: 78 deg.
Water Clarity: Clear to light stain
Happy 4th. of July !! The fishing continues to improve here on Truman. The crappie
are still a little slow, but the whites are starting to pick up a little and
the bass and the catfish remain good. With the holiday weekend up on us please
drive with care on and off the water. Fireworks will be shot off the dam Saturday
night.
BASS: Big worms on points in 8' to 12' of water is the best bite. Watermelon
red or plum are the top colors. The Sweet Beaver is still working also. Juicy
and watermelon red are the better colors. The is a suspended bite starting in
the outside tree rows in about 12'. Jig and frog and the beaver are catching
fish here. Last nights hawg fights took 11.15 lbs with Ernie Cox and Russell
Beck the winners. Second went to Randy and Jim Lutjan with 8.94 lbs. and big
bass of 4.46 lbs.
CRAPPIE: These fish are still on the outside tree rows in 12' to 17' of water.
Fish the trees that are just starting to come out or just under the surface.
Minnows are the best bait. There are some good brush pile fish starting to hit.
Look for piles in 15' to 20' of water.
WHITES & HYBRIDS: The whites are starting to surface a little more each week.
The cemetery has been the hot spot this week right before dark. Road runners
and 2" grubs are the best baits working now. There are a few spoon fish
hitting when they are running water. Check O 3 and the weir. The small spoons
seem to be working the best. There is a rumor going on around here that Roger
Pihl is to cheap to buy a good graph so he has been jumping out of the boat and
looking for them that way so if you are out fishing and see someone in the lake
looking for whites just stop' pick him up and put him back in his boat.
CATFISH: Trot lines are still working good. Shallow sets in 4' to 6' of water
baited with leeches or black perch are the top baits, Fish the flats that are
next to deep water.
Have a safe holiday.
