Truman Lake Fishing
Reports
Truman Lake: 07/05/06
Lake Level: 706.2
Water Temp: 80 deg.
Water Clarity: Clear to light stain.
The holiday is past and the fish should get back to
their normal patterns in a couple of days. With the boat traffic and
the rain shower I'm sure the fish are a little confused right now. The lake
is in real good shape color wise and the water temp. is getting to where the
hybrids should get going soon. We are starting to see the whites surface with
some regularity and the shad are staying on top longer.
BASS: We did do the hawg fights last night and
the stringer weights showed that we were coming of a holiday weekend. 1st.
went to Randy and Audara Lutjan with 8.59 lbs. 2 nd. was Mike and Pat Friend
with 4.72 lbs. Big bass went to Ernie Cox and Russell Beck with 4.04. The
suspended bite slowed a little but there were still a few fish caught on that
pattern. Big worms worked the best in 10' to 15' of water. The outside tree
rows along deeper water is a good holding area. There is still a point bite
going on. 8' to 12' of water with big worms. Watermelon red and plum are the
two top colors.
CRAPPIE: Same as last week. The outside tree
rows on the edge of the flats in 15' to 20' of water fished with minnows is
the best bet. There are a few fish starting to hang on the brush piles in
15' to 20' of water. Here again minnows are the best bait.
WHITES & HYBRIDS: We are starting to see
the whites come up more often and stay up a little longer. Best baits are
a small spoon or a road runner. Don't get to close to the schooling fish because
they spook easily. The COE hasn't been running much water lately so the hump
fish are moving around. Like I said earlier the water temp. is getting close
to where the hybrids should get it going. Also the shad are getting big enough
that I think will get these fish going.
CATFISH: We did see a lot of catfish come in
this week. Trot lines and jugs have been working well. Cut shad and leeches
are the top bait. Shallow sets seem to be working the best using floating
lines with stages set 12" to 16" next to deeper water.
