Truman Lake Fishing Reports

Truman Lake: 07/26/06

LAKE LEVEL: 705.55
WATER TEMP: 84deg.
WATER CLARITY: Clear to light stain.

Everything is about the same as it was last week with the exception that it is not near as warm. We did have a little shower come through this morning, just enough to settle the dust and that's about it. The water temp. is still bouncing up and down but the white bass fishing did pick up a little. Looks like the weekend is going to be nice so lets hope the fish get going.

BASS: The bass fishing is like last week, if you know how to catch suspended fish you will do pretty good. The points are still producing some fish in 8' to 12' of water on big worms. Watermelon red and plum are the better colors. The suspended fish are holding in 10' to 20' of water anywhere from 6' to 15' down. Strawberry worms are the best color on them. Tree rows next to the channel swings have been working the best. Last nights hawg fights were won by Doug and Ozzie Wallace with 5.56 lbs. They also had big bass weighing3.21. Randy Lutjan and Doug Zink cane in second with 4.19 lbs.

CRAPPIE: The crappie fishing continues to get a little better. The fish are still on the outside tree rows in 15' to 20' of water on the edge of the flats. Minnows are still the best bait. There have been a few fish coming off the bluffs out of 30' of water 18' to 20' down. Don't be afraid to check the bridge pillars.

WHITES & HYBRIDS: Last weekend we saw some real nice whites and small hybrids come in. Check picture on web site. Guide Steve Blake brought in some of the best whites I have seen this year. Fish spoons off the edge of the flats where they break from 10' to 20'. Steve said they started shallow early in the morning and the fish started going deeper around 9am.

CATFISH: The catfishing remains good. Trot lines in 10' baited with cut shad seem to do the best. You want deep water close by. Lines baited with perch are still picking up a few flat heads.

That's it for this week from Sterett Creek Marina
