Truman Lake Fishing
Reports
Truman Lake: 08/02/06
Fishing Report from Sterett Creek Marina 8/2/06
Lake Level: 705.04
Water Temp: 84 deg.
Water Clarity: Clear to light stain.
Hot but relief is in sight. The weather
man is telling us that we are supposed to start cooling down tomorrow.
The fishing is not bad early in the morning but you want to start cooling
down about 10:30. Take lots of water, Gatorade and minnows catch your
limit quick and go sit by the air.
BASS: The bass fishing is about the same
as it was last week. The fish are still holding off the points in 6'
to 8' of water. The COE has been running a little water so the suspended
bit has slowed a little. Big worms are still the top producing bait
in watermelon red and plum. Did hear of a few fish being caught on blue
fleck worms. There has been a little top water bite real early in the
morning on buzz baits, flat points seem to be the best. Last nights
hawg fights were won by Kyle White and Danny Johnson with 4.80 lbs.
Their big fish was 2.57 lbs. and with a little stronger string might
even of had a limit. 2 nd. was Doug and Ozzie Wallace with 3.62 lbs.
As you can see the heat has slowed the bite up a little.
CRAPPIE: The crappie fishing is starting
to pick up a little. Fish are still holding on the summer pattern. Outside
tree rows in 15' to 20' of water with fish holding at 8' to 10' down.
Minnows are the best bait. Look for the thickest trees, the fish seem
to be right in the middle of them. There are also fish holding on the
brush piles. 15' to 20' of water seems to be the best with the fish
holding on top of the piles.
WHITES & HYBRIDS: Haven't seen many
whites this week. What fish we have seen came off G 4 using spoons,
fish were holding in 20' of water. Also heard there was a bite going
up around KK Island.
CATFISH: The catfish are still doing good
on trot lines and jugs. Cut shad seems to be the best bait. Lines set
in 8' to 10' of water next to deep water seem to be doing the best.
There are still a few flat heads coming in on black perch.
That's it for this week from Sterett Creek Marina
