Truman Lake Fishing
Reports
Truman Lake: 08/16/06
Lake Level: 704.76
Water Temp: 84 deg.
Water Clarity: Clear to a light stain.
Again this week the fishing continues to improve
here on Truman. We are seeing more limits of crappie coming in everyday.
The bass fishing also remains good. The weather has been ideal for fishing
with cool mornings and evenings. The water temp has dropped a degree
of two but not enough to affect anything. They are calling for nice
weather for this weekend so it sounds like a great weekend for fishing.
BASS: The point fish are still on. Smaller
worms are starting to pick up more fish. A 7 1/2" blue fleck or
plum fished in 6' to 8' of water on the back sides of main lake points.
I did hear of a spinnerbait bite on the upper Osage on the flats in
the creeks. Last nights Hawg Fights were won by Doug and Ozzie Wallace
with 7.17 lbs. They also had big fish weighing 4.04 lbs. Second went
to Marty Watson with 5.08 lbs.
CRAPPIE: The crappie fishing is picking
up nicely here on Truman. The fish have dropped a little deeper but are
biting a lot better. There are fish biting on the flats on the outside
tree rows and also on the bluffs. The best depth has been running 12'
to 14' down on minnows. If your fishing 13' of water or 30' of water
fish 12'. We are starting to see several fish come off a tree, almost
a fall pattern.
WHITES & HYBRIDS: No report.
CATFISH: Trot lines and jugs are still
going strong. 8' to 10' of water next to deep water seems to be doing
the best. Cut shad has been the bait of choice. We are seeing a lot
of 3 lb. fish right now.
