Truman Lake Fishing
Reports
Truman Lake: 08/23/06
Fishing Report from Sterett Creek Marina 8023/06
Lake Level: 704.75
Water Temp: 83deg.
Water Clarity: Clear to light stain.
We finally had some rain come in last weekend.
Here at the marina we had 2" but it was pretty localized and didn't
affect the water level or the clarity. The lake is still down a little
over a foot. Didn't change the fishing much either, everything is the
same as last week.
BASS: Point fishing is still the best with
7" to 9" worms. Plum and blue fleck are the better colors.
The bass seem to be chasing the shad on the flats in the evenings and
there is a shallow running crank bait bite starting. These fish are
as shallow as 2'. We are starting to see more shad in the way backs.
The big winners in the hawg fights last night were Doug and Ozzie Wallace
with 9.19 lbs. They also had big fish at 4.72 lbs. They said their fish
came out of shallow water off hardwoods.
CRAPPIE: Same as last week. The crappie
are holding in the 12' to 14' range. What ever depth of water you fish
just make sure your minnow is down 12' to 14'. There are more fish starting
to come in off the bluff banks. There is also a good bite on the brush
piles. Fish seem to be holding right on top of the brush.
WHITES & HYBRIDS: No report. I did
hear of a few surfacing fish hitting the flats above the Grand River
bridge.
CATFISH: The catfish bite remains good.
Cut shad is the best bait. 10'-12' on the flats next to deep water is
working good in our area. Jugs and trot lines are both producing.
That's it for this week from Sterett Creek Marina
