Truman Lake Fishing
Reports
Truman Lake: 08/30/06
Fishing Report from Sterett Creek Marina 8/30/06
Lake Level: 704.9
Water Temp: 81 deg.
Water Clarity: Clear to light stain.
We had a little more rain this week but not enough
to bring the lake level up much. The cooler temps sure do make
it more comfortable to fish though. The weatherman said we are supposed
to have a great weekend with cooler temps and surely it won't rain as
bad as we need it. If you are out and about this weekend please drive
with care with the holiday and school starting.
BASS: Last night Doug and Ozzie Wallace
were the winners of the hawg fights with 8.13 lbs. They also had big
bass at 3.65 lbs. Second went to Eric Duecker with 2.19 lbs. The bass
are holding in 8' to 10' of water off the edge of the flats. Jig and
frog and big worms are working here. Early and late there is a top water
bite on the flats and also a crank bait bite. When the fish are on the
flats look in about 2' of water. If the shad aren't there neither are
the fish. Timber is a must and laydowns are the best.
CRAPPIE: It looks like we have two different
patterns starting on the crappie now. If you are fishing the bluff banks
fish seem to be holding in 12' to 14' of water. There have also been
fish caught as shallow as 8' in the tree rows. Minnows are still the
best bait.
WHITES & HYBRIDS: Not much of a report
on these fish. Did have a report of whites being caught in the timber
way up the Osage while crappie fishing. Food for thought, you might
try up on the Pommie flats with a crank bait. Had another report of
some fish being caught up in the G 10 area. These fish came on sassy
shad.
CATFISH: The cats are still doing good.
Trot lines and jugs are doing the best in 8' to 10' of water baited
with cut shad. The edge of the flats next to deep water seems to be
the best areas.
We will be doing the Sterett Creek Open Buddy Bass Tournament on the
16th. of September. For info you can call the marina on send us an email.
