Truman Lake Fishing
Reports
Truman Lake: 09/13/06
Fishing Report from Sterett Creek Marina 9/13/06
LAKE LEVEL: 704.8
WATER TEMP: 76 deg.
WATER CLARITY: Light Stain.
This week reminds you that fall is right around
the corner. With the cool temps in the mornings and evenings
and a little fog mixed in it looks like October instead of Sept. Even
the fish are acting like October fish. Everything is about the same
as last week with a little more top water thrown in. Don't forget this
weekend is the Sterett Creek Open Buddy Bass Tourn. on Sat. the 16th.
You can call the marina for details or e-mail me for info.
BASS: The bass fishing remains pretty good.
Last night was our last Tues. night hawg fight and Doug and Ozzie Wallace
closed it out in style with a pair of 4.5 lb fish and another one on
the side to weigh in at 10.72 lbs. The fish are still holding on the
edge of the flats in 6' to 10' of water. They are on the bottom and
picking up a jig. Look for the first break line coming off a timbered
flat. There is also a top water bite up on the flats in 2' to 4' of
water. Buzz baits and Pop R's are working the best. Look for flats with
shad.
CRAPPIE: The crappie fishing is like it
was last week. The best bite is on the brush piles in 14' to 20' of
water. Minnows are still the best bait. There are some fish starting
to pull up on the main lake points. These fish are in about 20' of water.
With the water temp. starting to drop they are acting like they want
to start moving to the creeks. Look for shad and brush off the points
and the fish will be in that area.
WHITES: I talked to Fred Bareks last night
and he said they are starting to pick up some whites on the flats in
the evenings down around the KK Island area. They seem to be hitting
about a half hour before dark.
CATFISH: The catfishing remains good. Cut
shad seems to be the best bait. The catfish are still holding in 8'
to 10' of water. Jugs seem to be working the best. There have been some
fish come in on rod and reel using night crawlers.
That's it for this week from Sterett Creek Marina
