Truman Lake Fishing
Reports
Truman Lake: 09/27/06
Lake Level: 704.54
Water Temp: 69 deg.
Water Clarity: Clear to lightly stained.
The weather is just about ideal for fishing,
the only problem is we need some wind to get the whites going again.
Sounds funny a fisherman wishing for wind. But anyway the temps are
great and no rain in the forecast. For the leaf lookers the leaves are
just starting to turn, but with the lack of rain I don't know how much
color we will have this year. but we are starting to see some color
along the lake.
BASS: If you like shallow water fishing
now is the time to be on Truman. Fish seem to be moving to the shallow
flats to chase shad. Top water early and late along with spinner baits
and jig and frog during the day has been producing some really good
fish. 2' to 4' of water seems to be the best. Look for shad if they
aren't there look for another flat.
CRAPPIE: I talked to Marty Zych and he
seems to think the fish are starting to move back into the creeks. Fish
the tree rows next to the creek channels with minnows in 12' to 15'
of water. I have also heard of a few fish off the points in 20' of water.
The brush piles are still holding a few fish if you know where any are.
Have not heard of any jig bite yet.
WHITES & HYBRIDS: If the wind blows
the white bass fishing has been super. The fish are pulling up in a
foot of water on the flat points chasing shad. Rooster tails and small
Rat L Traps are working the best. The last couple of days the wind has
died and the fishing got slow so if you see wind forecast that's the
time to hit the whites.
CATFISH: Same as last week. Jugs in 8'
to 10' of water on the flats next to deep water. Cut shad seems to be
the best bait.
