Truman Lake Fishing
Reports
Truman Lake: 10/04/06
Lake Level: 704.43
Water Temp: 68 deg.
Water Clarity: Clear to lightly stained.
I guess that old saying about the weather is proving its self true,
if you don't like it today just stay till tomorrow. We have been in
the hot mode again this week and no rain. The wind has kept up this
week to make the white bass fishing good. The leaves are starting to
turn some really pretty colors in this area. So all in all its a good
time to hit the lake and do some fall fishing.
BASS: We are still seeing a good number
of bass. With the shad getting blown up on the flats the bass are following
and starting to stock up on some fall grocery's. The fish are about
half way back in the coves in 1' to 4' of water. Spinner baits and buzz
baits are two of the top producing baits. Crank baits are also working
in this area. A small billed shallow runner in the Tenn. shad color
is a good choice.
CRAPPIE: It seems this week the crappie
have gone deeper. The brush pile fish have slowed up and the 30' fish
have started a little. Minnows fished in 30' down about 16' has been
producing a few fish.
WHITES & HYBRIDS: As long as the wind
blows the white bass will bite. Windy flats with Rooster Tails, road
runners and small Rat L Traps will do a good job. These fish are in
a foot of water or less. One thing we have noticed this week is that
you have to get the blade turning on the baits as soon as your bait
hits the water.
CATFISH: Same as last week. Flats next
to deeper water with cut shad. Jugs seem to be working the best. 8'
to 10' of water has been the best water depth.
