Truman Lake Fishing
Reports
Truman Lake: 10/18/06
Lake Level: 704.28
Water Temp: 64 deg.
Water Clarity: Clear to light stain.
Finally we got a little rain. Had about
a inch last weekend and seemed to pick the fishing up along with the
leaf color. It sure is pretty now, looks like we are about full color
right now. As far as the fishing it has got the white bass all fired
up. The temps are perfect for fishing and the wind hasn't been to bad.
BASS: We saw a couple real nice fish come
in today. Spinner baits and Pop R's seem to be the two best baits working
now. The fish have moved up shallow on the flat points and in the back
ends of the coves. The little critters are holding in 1' to 3' of water
and looking for lots of shad to eat. I'm sure a tube fished along the
laydowns in the backends of the coves will work also.
CRAPPIE: The crappie fishing is still slow
on our end of the lake. The fish we are seeing are coming off the bluff
banks out of 25' to 30' of water. Fish seem to be holding at about 20'.
Minnows and jigs are both working. The crappie seem to be holding close
to the points. Brush piles are producing a few small fish but it looks
like they are looking to move to the coves.
WHITES & HYBRIDS: If the wind will
blow the white bass fishing is real good. Steve Blake ran some trips
this week for whites and did extremely well. We have several other people
that are taking limits also. The south Grand and lower Big Tebo seem
to be coming on. Flat wind blown points are the best. Fish are in a
foot or water. Pop R's and Rooster Tails are the best baits.
The main thing to remember is that you can't fish to shallow.
Bob Dodd and company had a nice bunch of whites and small hybrids yesterday.
He said they caught them on tandem willow leafs in about 3' of water
on the flats.
CATFISH: Haven't had any reports on the
cats this week but jugs should still work in 8' to 10' of water on the
flats.
