Truman Lake Fishing
Reports
Truman Lake: 10/25/06
Lake Level: 704.22
Water Temp: 58 deg.
Water Clarity: Light Stain.
Looks like we are in for a little rain the next couple of days, maybe
it will put a little water in the lake for the duck hunters. The trees
are still well colored and holding on to their leaves. They must be
trying to stay warm as long as they can. The fishing is good on whites
and black bass so it looks like a good time to get out one last time
before the weather gets plum stupid on us. Next week will be my last
fishing report for the season.
BASS: Fish are still holding in 1' to 3'
of water in the backends of the coves. Spinner baits and Pop R's are
the best baits right now. Don't over look any laydowns, you may have
to hit them twice but there are fish holding on them. Jigs and tubes
are working on the laydowns.
CRAPPIE: The jig bite has started a little,
and I mean a little. What few crappie we are seeing are brush pile fish.
15' to 20' seems to be doing the best.
WHITE BASS & HYBRIDS: The white bass
and small hybrids are doing good. Windy flat points and nitches in1'
of water are holding fish. Rooster tails and small Rat L Traps have
been working the best. It seems that you can't fish to shallow.
CATFISH: Same as last week. 8' to 10' on
the flats. Jugs baited with the red meat of a white bass has been real
good this week. We have seen several fish in the 20 lb. range.
