Truman Lake Fishing
Reports
Truman Lake: 11/01/06
Lake Level: 704.34
Water Temp: 56 deg
Water Clarity: Light stain
This will be the last fishing report for the 2006
season. We will be closing the marina on Sunday Nov. 5th. We
will reopen March 9th. 2007. We are going to have the campground open
until after deer season. We will have full hookups open but the shower
house will be closed.
The weather is letting us know that fall is here with
the cool temps, but the foliage still has fantastic color. The wind
has left most of the leaves on the trees so it will be a good weekend
to spend some time at the lake.
BASS: The bass fishing remains good on
Truman. We are hearing of a lot of good Kentucky's being caught. Spinnerbaits
seem to be the main stay right now. Fish are all the way in the backs
of the creeks. 1' to 3' of water has been the best depth. Laydowns fished
with spinnerbaits and jig and frog are producing good fish. Look for
shad.
CRAPPIE: The crappie are still slow. Had
a report of some fish caught off brush piles in 20' of water on jigs.
With the number of small fish caught this year next season should be
a good year on crappie. We may have to change tactics a little but time
will tell.
WHITES & HYBRIDS: We are still seeing
lots of whites come in. Seems the best bait right now is a spinner bait
fished about 10' to 15' off the banks. The flat banks are the best and
cloudy days by far out produce the sunny days. The bad news is that
you need wind and the more the better. It's hard to fish but the results
are worth it.
CATFISH: The catfishing is still good.
Jugs in 6' to 8' of water on the flats next to deep water has been producing
good catfish. Cut shad and the red meat off white bass are the two best
baits right now.
Well that's it for this season from Sterett Creek. We would like to
thank everyone that has made our season successful. I would also like
to thank everyone who has sent e-mails in regards to the fishing report.
I look forward to starting again with the reports in the spring.
May you have a safe and warm winter.
