Missouri Lakes Fishing Report
Lake - Tanneycomo 02/07/07:
Best fly patterns: The Corps of Engineers
continues to run water and the fishing continues to be phenomenal. If
you can brave the temperatures you won’t be disappointed by the
fishing right now. Best patterns continue to be minnow and shad imitators;
Clouser and simple minnows are top producers. When the water goes a
little slack, if they shut down to one or two generators, switch over
to size #16 or #18 G-bugs or soft shell scud in tan, light brown or
ginger. Dress for the weather and you can have one of the most memorable
trips of the year as long as the water is flowing.
Best spinning tackle: The current has
got the fish up and feeding from the dam to below Branson. Inline spinners;
rooster tails, panther martins and Mepps are good choices, super dupers,
little cleos and buoyant spoons are working well and small jigs in white,
white / pink and white / red have been producing numbers of fish through
out the lake. Big fish have been coming on Rapalas as well, you won’t
get a lot of bites but the quality is worth the wait. In addition to
the trout fishing all of the current has the bass on the lower end of
the lake have really turned on as well, look for bass to be on wood
and rock cover on ledge banks. Eakins’ jigs in PB&J with a
green pumpkin Eakins’ craw is your best bait, fish them from ledge
to ledge paying close attention whenever the jig is falling.
