Missouri Lakes Fishing Report
Lake - Tanneycomo 02/11/07:
Link to the Generation Schedule: http://www.swpa.gov/generation.htm
Best fly patterns: The water was off
and on Friday, check with the Corps before you go for the generation
schedule. When the water is off scuds, G-bugs and soft shell scuds have
all been very good in tan, ginger, grey and olive. If the water is on
you will need to switch over to some sort of minnow or shad imitator,
Clouser minnows or perfect minnows have been the most productive choices.
Pay close attention to water conditions when wading and listen for the
horn to sound, even though the Corps publishes a schedule they will
run water if there is a demand and you can be stranded or worse f you
are not paying close attention.
Best spinning tackle: When the current
is running the bite is still phenomenal; just about any minnow imitator
will work when there is current. In-line spinners like Mepps, Rooster
Tails and Panther Martins are all effective, spoons like buoyant spoons
and little Cleos will work but one of the best presentations has been
a white or white and red hair jig in 1/8 or 1/16 oz. sizes. If the water
is shut off switch back to a drift rig and use live crawlers and power
bait. The bas fishing is still very good on the lower end of the lake,
fish ledge banks with a PB&J Eakins’ jig and craw combo and
you won’t be disappointed.
